Toonz Academy signs pact with Bharithiar University
Source : Times of IndiaKerala-based Toons Academy, a division of Toonz Animation Studio in Technopark here, has signed an agreement with the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, to conduct BSc (Animation) degree course from 2010-11 academic year.
An MoU for this was signed between Dr P Thirumanavalan, Registrar of the University, and R K Nair, President, Toonz Academy, a Toonz release said here today.
Apart from the graduate course in animation, the agreement also covered Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Arts and Animation, Diploma in Digital Arts and Animation and some certificate programs.
The curriculum for these courses would be designed and developed by Toonz and the infrastructure at its Academy here had been approved by the University for conducting the course. Students would get degrees and diplomas of the university.
“With this tie up with a State University, we are giving the students the twin advantages of an industry-designed and endorsed curriculum delivered in a studio environment and a formal degree from the university. This will help students to find jobs in the booming animation and multimedia industry and also pursue higher studies in India and abroad,” Nair said.
Toonz Academy will start making admissions for the degree course on July 19. The course would be open to students who had passed plus-two under any stream.
